Alexandra Burke has confessed to having doubts as to whether her next single will be a success, because the song is now being released later than planned.

On September 5, the former X Factor winner is releasing Start Without You as her first single from her second album - two weeks after the track was originally set to hit shelves.

And the delay has got poor Alex nervous.

“It is summery,” she said of the song, “but we moved the date to September and a lot of fans on Twitter said ‘How are you going to move a summer song to September, September is not summer!’ and I thought ‘Oh god’.”

Burke added to Company magazine: “I didn’t know what to say to them - it was because the video was late!”

As for her change in sound - which was criticised by Example this week - Alexandra said: “It’s always a risk doing another song and sometimes you get songs that aren’t always what people want to hear.

“But I’m going to work really hard to get a hit with this one. Fingers crossed!”
