Going back to Haiti

Its now six months on since the deviation hit Haiti, so I decided to team up with save the children charity and The Sun newspaper to g back and see what’s changed within the last six months in Haiti. I wanted to witness it first hand. The one thing that stood out to me as soon as I landed and was out of the airport was the fact that Haiti wasn’t so ‘chaotic’.. It seemed as though there was a sense of peace in the air.

Once I arrived I went straight to the save the children offices to have a security briefing and then some lunch. Then it was time to start my day helping and doing everything I could do to help. The first camp we visited was a camp where a lot of mothers, fathers and children were learning how to keep themselves clean. Six months ago, there wasn’t a camp like this and hygiene was a huge problem because a lot of people lost their homes but now I can see a difference within this situation, thanks to save the children. A lot more people are now able to shower, use a toilet, wash their hands regularly, have fresh clean water on a daily basis and have somewhere to live.

So, that’s a big thank you to those who have been donating and of course to save the children for running this kind of camp.
I was introduced to a lot of kids at the hygiene camp they even showed me how to wash my hands properly. One thing that I found so special is that the kids would sing whilst they wash their hands so it made it very fun for them to not only learn how to wash their hands but it also made them very happy.

My second day in Haiti was another early start… Our first stop was at a school. This school used to be a four story high building, but fell to pieces when the earthquake happened. Now it’s all separated in three different locations. I went to visit the primary part of this school. As I walked in I noticed that all of the classes are now held in tents, but these children seemed to have a big smile on their faces. So, I went in straight away to speak to a year four class. They were lovely kids and I asked them if they would sing to me. And they did. Lol. It was very exciting to see them so happy, but then they wanted the favour returned. I got super shy, but sang their favourite song to them. ‘my heart will go on’ by Celine Dion. And they ALL joined in! We defiantly connected through music..

I couldn’t help but notice a dog running around the school. Lol. A very beautiful dog! I noticed that this dog made the kids very happy. When it was time for their lunch break, the boys would play football with the dog and the girls would play with their skipping rope. Yep, you guessed it! I HAD to join in with that one lol. A 13 year old girl named Jennyster Gaspard taught me how to skip and it was a lot of fun! But my goodness, skipping in the heat was hardcore! But, I certainly did it anyway!

Next up I’m taken to Fontamara Camp where I buy a painting from a local artist for $40. It’s a bargain and will make a big difference to his life, so I’m absolutely thrilled. Save the Children are trying to move from the emergency phase to the recovery phase which is all about helping people to help themselves. Buying a painting that someone has worked hard on means so much more to me than simply handing out money. Next up it’s Theatre National which is a mobile clinic for mums. Here, they learn how to look after their babies and breastfeed, and have their babies weighed and monitored.

Theatre National also has a CFS child friendly space - where children can just be children and have a safe environment where they can sing, dance, draw pictures and be themselves. It gives the parents some much needed respite, and it brings some normality to the children’s lives. There’s a great atmosphere and the children sing the World Cup song by Shakira, Waka Waka. There are some great dance moves to go with it and I’m seriously impressed. I was really touched by seeing how much work Save The Children have done so far in a very short space of time. There of course is a lot more work to do, but that will take time.

I hope I can go back to Haiti soon and see what else has changed. Remember guys, if you wish to donate, please visit http://www.savethechildren.org.uk

A big thank you to those who have already taken the time to donate and help those in Haiti.

Peace and Love, Alexandra x

Wow! Oh wow! I find it so hard to know where to start as everything has
been non stop. The past few weeks have been so much fun and a real
life changing experience…

My video for ‘Start Without You’ should be out very soon so keep a lookout for
it, you may’ve already heard it on the radio. This song is my summer
tune and should hopefully get you all smiling! It’s featuring an artist
called Laza Morgan, watch out for him as he is about to blow up. He’s
releasing his album in the States this August then he’s coming over to the
UK, so let’s show him a lot of support.

I’ve been doing a lot of shows since returning from LA and that’s been lots of fun.
One show in particular that I really enjoyed was the gig for Mercedes Benz.
The crowd in Weybridge were ready to have fun in thesun. Oh and I did
a show in Scotland for the Aire Racecourse and I bet a fiver on a horse - well guess what!
I WON!!! I actually won, ha ha. Now that was an experience.

The show that I was super duper nervous for was T4 on the Beach… now
that was a great show. I got to see a lot of my friends again and
watched them all perform. Plus, you can’t go wrong when you’re at the
beach for the day! It was a lovely day being backstage and having fun
doing interviews, games etc! T4 know how to have a party!! So, thank
you once again to everyone at T4 for making it a great day! (I even had
Alfie there the whole day too!!!)

Hey Guys!!

Time for a new blog!! So much has been happening over the past few weeks and there is a lot to talk about once again! lol.

So I apologise in advance if this blog is huge!!

First of all, may I just say a MASSIVE thank you to those who bought my single All Night Long feat Pitbull. I’ve been so overwhelmed with the reaction so far, especially in Europe and now Australia! So thank you once again.

My biggest highlight of the past couple of days has to be the fact that I performed at the amazing Wembley STADIUM in front of 70,000 people for CAPITAL FM’s SUMMERTIME BALL!!! I am telling you, it was the most amazing experience of my life!! Now I am always nervous before a performance but this time I was SUPER nervous! but the crowd really helped me!!! I performed Broken Heels, All Night Long and Bad Boys!! It was so much fun being on stage with my dancers and hearing the crowd sing along. Nothing can beat that feeling, the energy was out of this world. So, to those who came down and had some fun, I really hope you enjoyed the Summertime Ball. And OMG!!! I met USHER!! He is a very special person and it was a honor to meet him as I have loved his music for years!! I also met Jason Durelo too. He is a awesome guy and really hot! ha ha! More pics coming soon!

Last night I went too the Glamour awards and Won - Best Newcomer!! Wow! I must say a huge thank you once again to the editor of glamour magazine, Jo Elvin and EVERYONE at Glamour!! But most of all to the readers of Glamour who voted for me! That made it extra special and I am truly grateful! Attending the awards was such a laugh and I had a blast! I got to catch up with friends and have a ball! It was a magical night Thank you. xxx

For those who don’t know, I have just recently come back from the other side of the world - AUSTRALIA !! I was doing promotion for the album ‘Overcome’ and the single ‘All Night Long’ I landed in Melbourne first and spent two days there then I went on to Sydney. I had never been to Australia before that trip so it was so exciting. My goodness, it was a very long flight!! ha ha!! And I’m still jet lagged! LOL!!!

I can now confirm my next single here in the UK and Ireland!! It’s called ‘Start Without You’ and It’s my Summer tune!! LOL!

Hey Guys!!

It’s time for a new blog, a lot has been happening and everything has been mad busy!! Where to start is the question!

Well, finally the video for my new single All Night Long is out and about! I’m so happy with it! The video went through ten edits but we had to make it perfect for you all. Thank you for being so patient and I really hope you like the new video. I must say, it’s really different for me and I loved the change!! The beast in me really decided to come out and play!!

One of the most exciting things about the video is the fact that we gave some lucky fans 50 cameras to do whatever they wanted to and then we included some of the footage in the video! And that’s what made it so fun and exciting!! I also LOVE the fact that my family and close friends are in the video too. They had such a blast! Can’t wait for you all to see the behind the scenes footage!! It will make you laugh! It was one BIG party!! ha ha !!

I have been promoting in and out of Europe and it has been amazing! I recently performed for the Queens Birthday in Holland and I came off stage nearly in tears because the energy in Holland was out of this WORLD!! To hear other countries sing along to my music is a real dream come true for me. I’m going back to Holland to perform on their X FACTOR, I am very very excited!! I can’t wait to see how they do it out there!

As some of you may know, I finally have my dog! His name is ALFIE. And he really does make me so happy. I do adore him!! You may see him out and about with me, I carry him where ever I can!! He is adorable!

I can’t wait to perform this summer !! I’m going to be doing a lot of festivals/Shows, so keep checking the website for more details so you can buy tickets and join me!!

Hey Guys!! So sorry it has been a minute since I’ve done a blog! A lot has been happening! So, this might be a long one! Where do I start?? Well.. It’s now time for a new single - if you don’t know, my new single is called ‘All Night Long’ - Feat the amazing Pitbull! I think he is so awesome! (And hot! LOL)

I shot the video a couple of days ago, and that was so much fun! It actually was my first UK video! And it was even more special because I got to have fans come down as well as my beautiful family and friends. It was super duper! LOL I can’t wait for you guys to see the video… It’s very special. The Beast in me really came out to Play!!

A lot has been happening in Europe! The reaction to Bad Boys is amazing. Quite shocking really!! I’ve had so much fun having my Bad Boys in Europe with me and performing it! Oh, and I may aswell let you all into a little secret.. My Tour bus is coming back!! So for those in London who didnt get to see it, you might have a chance to see it now! Fingers crossed! x

A few weeks ago I actually performed Bad Boys - but this time it was on Ant and Dec’s show. Push The Button That was so much fun, as it was a competition and these two lovely families had to be my backing dancers! I hope they had fun because I know I did!

A couple of weeks ago I performed on Dancing On Ice
- it was such an experience. Really really different, I had to perform my new single - ‘All night Long’. I had professional skaters dancing around me and I was in the middle of the ice on a very very small stage. So, it was truly different for me , but so much fun at the same time. I was soo nervous! lol.. Nothing different there i guess!

Oh and I have to tell you all about the special moment when I had the chance to do a fashion show for Fashion for Relief - for Naomi Campbell, that event was held to help raise money for Haiti!! And I know they raised over a million with is fantastic news. Naomi is one of my inspirations, so seeing her again was a joy she is an unbelievable woman!

Now promo for the new single starts and im so excited! Keep checking the website for all details of where and when I’ll be performing. Got loads of shows coming up and I want you all to be there. Follow me on Twitter for all updates. including the random ones! haha.

Hello Guys,

Arrived back from Haiti today and thought I’d write a blog to tell you what happened. It was the biggest eye opening trip ever. It was beyond what you can ever expect from watching the news.
I didn’t have a long time in Haiti, but my time there was spent with a charity called ‘Save The Children’. This charity has been in Haiti for over 30 years already helping before the earthquake and now their presence there is even more important with the huge amount of work they have done in the last few weeks since the disaster.

A month on and as you can imagine things aren’t great , and I only saw a tiny part of the devastation that’s been caused. Where I was in Port au Prince was 60% affected by the quake and in other areas it was 90% affected by the quake. I saw, homes shattered everywhere, peoples lives shattered and most of all so many children and pregnant women who need so much help.

My reasons for going to Haiti was to purely come back and show awareness of the situation and to urge other people to help Haiti too.
YOU can do that by donating anything, even if its a small amount or even buying the single Helping Haiti - Everybody hurts . I have seen for myself where this money is going and I can tell you its so urgently needed.

Seeing families who don’t know if they’re going to eat day by day, or don’t even know where they will sleep every night truly is devastating. And what has made it worse is that its coming up to hurricane season and these people have nowhere to live. Many are in tents or living under trees or in temporary shelters. Some people are moving to places to escape the devastation of their homes yet all may be facing more problems in the months to come and they need more help to survive that.

Who knows how long it will take to re build their lives, they are starting from nothing. This country was already very poor and now even many of those people that did have homes are left without places to live. Most have no way of earning to put food on their tables for their families let alone start ro rebuild homes. But what I do know is that we can make that difference, what might be something small to us is truly a big difference to them.

Things there are still terrifying for everyone, they have lost homes, friends and families and are struggling every day just to survive. But I want to also tell you that people I met are positive, and resilient, they are true survivors and truly inspirational and with some help they will start to be able to put their lives together.

This recovery will take a long time, not weeks or months but years. I will definately go back in a few months time and see how they are doing and how help has made a difference. I have already seen some of the incredible work that Save the Children are doing with the funds being raised including kids safe spaces and mobile health units that are needed so badly.

I just hope we are all able to keep making sure that people dont forget Haiti in the weeks and months to come.

A big thank you to those who have already bought the single and given what they can to help.

I love you guys dearly.
Peace and love - Keep smiling
