Haiti

Hello Guys,

Arrived back from Haiti today and thought I’d write a blog to tell you what happened. It was the biggest eye opening trip ever. It was beyond what you can ever expect from watching the news.
I didn’t have a long time in Haiti, but my time there was spent with a charity called ‘Save The Children’. This charity has been in Haiti for over 30 years already helping before the earthquake and now their presence there is even more important with the huge amount of work they have done in the last few weeks since the disaster.

A month on and as you can imagine things aren’t great , and I only saw a tiny part of the devastation that’s been caused. Where I was in Port au Prince was 60% affected by the quake and in other areas it was 90% affected by the quake. I saw, homes shattered everywhere, peoples lives shattered and most of all so many children and pregnant women who need so much help.

My reasons for going to Haiti was to purely come back and show awareness of the situation and to urge other people to help Haiti too.
YOU can do that by donating anything, even if its a small amount or even buying the single Helping Haiti - Everybody hurts . I have seen for myself where this money is going and I can tell you its so urgently needed.

Seeing families who don’t know if they’re going to eat day by day, or don’t even know where they will sleep every night truly is devastating. And what has made it worse is that its coming up to hurricane season and these people have nowhere to live. Many are in tents or living under trees or in temporary shelters. Some people are moving to places to escape the devastation of their homes yet all may be facing more problems in the months to come and they need more help to survive that.

Who knows how long it will take to re build their lives, they are starting from nothing. This country was already very poor and now even many of those people that did have homes are left without places to live. Most have no way of earning to put food on their tables for their families let alone start ro rebuild homes. But what I do know is that we can make that difference, what might be something small to us is truly a big difference to them.

Things there are still terrifying for everyone, they have lost homes, friends and families and are struggling every day just to survive. But I want to also tell you that people I met are positive, and resilient, they are true survivors and truly inspirational and with some help they will start to be able to put their lives together.

This recovery will take a long time, not weeks or months but years. I will definately go back in a few months time and see how they are doing and how help has made a difference. I have already seen some of the incredible work that Save the Children are doing with the funds being raised including kids safe spaces and mobile health units that are needed so badly.

I just hope we are all able to keep making sure that people dont forget Haiti in the weeks and months to come.

A big thank you to those who have already bought the single and given what they can to help.

I love you guys dearly.
Peace and love - Keep smiling
Alexandra xoxo

Leaving for Haiti.

Hey Guys!

Hope you are all well.

I thought I would write a quick blog before I go to Haiti tomorrow!

Words cannot describe how I feel about going, some of you may know that I’m going because I want to raise awareness here in the UK. I really want to show people around the world that what is going on in Haiti hasn’t stopped and they still need our help. I know I’m not a doctor and have no medical degrees, but thank God I’m actually in a position where I can go and give some help and I know they need food, clothing and things for the kids out there. So a massive thank you to those who are supporting me with going as I’m so nervous and to be honest scared too. But I have a pair of hands and I’m ready to use them in any way possible to give back.

I’m not sure how long I will be staying for but I will write another blog when I’m back and share this with you all.

Thank you to everyone who has bought the single Everybody Hurts we are really hoping that this song will raise a lot of money and help with shelter, schools and food out there.

Once again,

See you all when I am back.

Peace and Love - Keep smiling xxx

Alexandra’s European Tour Blog Pt 4

Hey Guys! These last couple of days have been a blast. It’s all been going so fast, and now I’m coming to the end of the promo tour. I’ve spent the last two days in Paris, the city of LOVE!...and I have completely fallen in love with it over here. So I thought I’d send a blog on what I’ve been doing over the past couple of days.

I flew home to the UK for one day after Vienna to record my lines for the Haiti charity single, ‘Everybody Hurts’. It meant a lot to me to be a part of the single. What has happened in Haiti is truly devastating and I want to do all I can to help and raise money. The song is incredible and I really hope everyone buys a copy to support the relief aid in Haiti

After my one day trip back in London, I flew to Zurich in Switzerland. I did all my promo on the bus outside the venue that I was performing at that night. It was a hardcore day but to surprise me, my family flew out for my showcase. It was so sweet of them. But what was even sweeter was their reaction to the tour bus. My sister started crying , my brothers wouldn’t stop hugging and kissing the bus and my mama was so overwhelmed by it all. It’s great to have such amazing and supportive family like that!

I went to a famous chocolate shop and bought some Swiss chocolate! it was sooo yummy!.... I do love my chocolate!

That evening I had my first Showcase in Europe! I was so nervous- I couldn’t stop thinking about it the whole day. My two bad boy dancers flew out to dance with me on stage and I performed 5 songs for the crowd. I didn’t think it was going to be so packed but it was Heaving. It was so good for all those people to come down. It really did touch me to see people singing back my songs especially when Bad Boys has only been out a week over there! Truly moving! So, thank you to those in Zurich who attended. I will come back for sure! As soon as the show finished we had to leave on the bus and head straight to Milan. Wow, I still can’t believe i’m saying this. Ive always wanted to go to Italy. Milan is so beautiful. I didin’t get to see much of the town, but the sun was shining and I was smiling!! I had loads of promo to do in Milan and then it was lunch time and all i could think about was my favorite meal of all time - Spaghetti Bolognese!.... and of course being in Italy, it was the best Spag Bol I have ever tasted!

After promo finished I did a Meet-and-Greet with competition winners in Milan, it was hard to believe that some people knew me. We took pictures, chatted and some of them got to ride on the tour bus with me as well.

We then left for Paris, once I arrived I couldn’t stop looking at the beautiful sites. It was fantastic! I spent two days doing promo with a lot of magazines, newspapers and radio interviews! I even sang on the hit radio station called NRJ, who we’re so lovely to me. I haven’t eaten anything like frog legs or snails yet though lol… and probably won’t, I’m not brave enough!... ha!

I also had a meet and greet/album listening party with some radio contest winners in Paris!! And that was super exciting!! We drove around Paris on the tour bus at night and even stopped off at the Eiffel Tower which was AMAZING! So thank you to all those who came to that. I had fun with you all. The winners gave me roses and we were taking pictures; and then out of nowhere this big crowd of people formed and they were all running up to my bus and hugging me! It was all so emotional…but then I had to say goodbye to my Tour bus - which REALLY brought the tears (no surprise there!).

But now it’s time to head home to start more promo in the UK!! Miss u all and can’t wait to be back in London town!!

Peace and love!

Keep smiling

Alexandra’s European Tour Blog Pt 3

Hey guys

I am in Vienna right now but I wanted to tell you a bit about one of my highlights from this weekend, which was going to the ‘Michalsky Night’ for Berlin Fashion week in Germany.

The show presented three collections from three designers, Michalsky, Kaviar Gauche and LaLa Berlin. Some of the looks included evening gowns, sparkly wear, cashmere and street couture. I really loved seeing another country’s take on fashion. I had such an enjoyable night and I was actually quite shocked that some of the photographers and media knew who I was when covering a whole bunch of interviews on the red carpet! I had a lot of fun in Berlin and attending the fashion show and I look forward to returning to Germany later in the year.

Straight after the show I headed straight back to the bus to continue my journey throughout Europe - after a long 12 hour drive throughout the night, I arrived at the next stop on the promo tour- Vienna, Austria!!

Wow! Didn’t realize Vienna would be so amazing; I have had two great days off and thought I would share it with you….My sister flew out for the weekend to spend some time with me which was really really nice of her, she was my little protector while on my two days off. We went out to do some shopping which was amazing, going to the likes of H&M, American Apparel etc. We went to get our ears pierced (second holes) which was really naughty of us but the lady wasn’t available to do it

We went and visited various sites in Vienna, as well as loads of shoe shops and it was just nice to go round shopping, even if it was really cold (and when I say cold I mean freeeeeeezing, -10). Then me and my sister went to go and have some lunch like old times awwwww, followed by a relaxing evening and dinner with the team.

On Sunday, it was the first time in years that I have actually spent the whole day in my pyjamas. My sister wouldn’t let me go out because it was so cold and she was worried that if I went out I would catch a cold. It was probably the right thing to do because I still have a lot of promo to do and don’t want to get ill for that!

We ended up going to a really famous cake shop in the afternoon called ‘Demel’ which was out of this world. We had two hot chocolates and some cheesecake and it was amaaaaziiiing and yummmmy. Might go back today for some more * wink wink *

Then I went out to have dinner with the Sony Austrian team; we went to a place called Dots for some experimental Sushi. I will show you some pics of how much we had to eat, believe me I have never seen so much food before and it was definitely experimental.

Today I have done a few radio and TV interviews with Austrian media, sharing my experience of staying in Vienna for the weekend with them and promoting the upcoming album release.

Not sure if you all know already, but I am taking part in the Haiti earthquake charity single. I feel really really honoured to be involved in it and am pleased to be in a position to assist those who really need help. Although we can’t stop natural disasters, we can at least lend a hand to those who have been affected and try to help to prevent disease from spreading and reduce the suffering. Remember guys we all need to chip in and help in whatever way we can because it all counts.

Missing you all, hope to send another update in the next couple of days. Look out for the pictures from Vienna!

Peace and love!

Alexandra’s European Tour Blog Pt 2

Hi guys,

Oh my god! I’ve landed in Sweden! Woah it was sooo cold!! Still not as bad as Berlin..But I’ll explain more about that in a second! So, Sweden was snowing and the snow looked so pretty!! And because I missed most of the snow in London I actually got to enjoy the snow over here.

I have completed so many interviews but the journalists are so warm and friendly so it has been fun at the same time! The first interview was really early at a radio station called ‘The Voice’. They also filmed it too…I know it’s already on YouTube so look it up! The presenters couldn’t stop making me laugh and then they introduced me to their dog which was also in the studio , I’m sure you could only imagine how I reacted! The dog was so so cute!!

After that we headed back to the bus, taking in some beautiful scenery in Stockholm on the route home…literally everywhere you looked there was so much snow!! I got interviewed by MTV and then I met this cool singer; his name is Danny. (I will post a picture of him) He was one of the finalists on ‘Idol’ in Sweden! And I actually thought he was super cute! You guys can judge for yourselves! *Wink Wink*

Before heading on to Berlin I was lucky enough to go and meet everyone who works in Sony Sweden. We went to their offices and it was really funny because as soon as I walked in Bad Boys video was playing in the background and that made me super shy… it was still a shock to the system that I’m actually doing something like this. I’m telling you, this promo tour has been so much fun and I have already got some great memories to take back to the UK with me!!!

After Stockholm I headed to Berlin and I did not expect that temperature drop- it is SUPER cold, reaching -10! So you guys in London cannot complain about how cold it is there - It’s a slap in the face here! Ha ha! Still had a fantastic day and being on the bus whilst doing promo has kept me warm!

Keep you all updated soon xx

Alexandra’s European Tour Blog Pt1

Wow. Well its now the third day of the European promo tour and I can’t believe how much fun this tour has been!! It’s been so amazing so far and I hope it continues to be like this. I’m having a BLAST!!

The first stop was in Brussels, And I started the day really early at MNM Radio Station where I sang Hallelujah. I didn’t get to see the sites of Brussels but I had a great time because the people there were so nice. I had a TV crew and photographers following me around all day as well – which was like having my own crew Belgian paparazzi!

As soon as I saw the tour bus I actually ran up to hit and hugged it ! Haha ! Crazy I know, but it looked incredible. I couldn’t go straight in because the drivers were sleeping! Then… they let me in around lunch time and. oh my goodness, yes that’s righ you guessed it, I BURST INTO TEARS!!! Lol, I got so emotional! The bus has two lounges and loads of bunks, oh and i even have my own bedroom!! It’s got a PS3 inside with Sing Star!! Some of the journalists have even been playing Sing Star with me - it’s been so fun! And yes, I have been singing my lungs out trying to win that game!

The next day we went to Holland and arrived late at night. It was exciting to be in Holland. The next day of promo was even better!! All of the journalists came onto the bus to interview me and I got to give them a grand tour of the bus - I was even beginning to learn how to understand Dutch by the end of it.

I then got a chance to go out and explore some of Holland. I can’t really explain to you guys what I saw in Holland, but put it this way, It was an experience! Haha!! We got to dinner at this really great restaurant where all the waiters sang to everybody during their meals - it was so funny! Then we had to start our 12 hour journey on to Denmark! Which is where i am right now.

I’ve only had a few interviews so far today but it’s been fun and IT’S SNOWING!!. The snow here is so pretty and it makes me feel like it’s Christmas all over again!

I’ll keep tweeting to keep you guys updated!

Wow. I can’t believe it’s this moment where the album is finished and out! I can’t believe I got number 1 with my single and album! I am SO overwhelmed and so grateful to you guys. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought Overcome and Badboys. It means so much to me. I honestly feel so happy and I realise I’m a very lucky girl! I will continue to always work hard for you all and make you all smile and hopefully make you all proud.

Everything has been crazy, it’s been a lot of hard work but at the same time so exciting and fun! As cheesy as it sounds I wake up everyday with a BIG smile on my face because I’m doing everything I’ve dreamed of and more!! I can’t believe I was able to go to the MOBO awards, Pride of Britian awards and the GQ awards. They were all amazing to go to, especially the Pride of Britian awards. That was the most inspiring night of my life. Very life changing and taught me so much.

I’m going away to America again very soon to record the video for the second single! So that should be so much fun once again!! Woo!!

I’ve been very lucky to be able to be apart of the Breast Cancer Charity and design a T-shirt that’s being sold in Dorothy Perkins. I have my one! Have you guys bought yours? All the money goes to Breast Cancer Charity helping to beat cancer! http://www.dorothyperkins.com
